Therapy for therapists

Therapists need therapy too.

You spend your week holding everyone else's pain. This is a place to put it down.

The weight you carry

You hear the stories other people cannot say out loud. The grief, the shame, the fear, the things that happened and the things that nearly did. Then you close the laptop, make tea and are expected to be fine.

Supervision looks after the work. Friends and family do their best, but they are not the ones who can really take it. So who looks after you?

If you are tired in a way sleep doesn't fix, flat, over-responsible, or quietly wondering who you are allowed to talk to, you are not failing. You are doing a heavy job.

Why it matters

Getting support is not a sign of weakness. It is part of doing this work well.

You can only take a client as far as you have been willing to go yourself. A therapist who has somewhere to put their own stuff is steadier in the room, clearer about what belongs to them and what belongs to the client, and far less likely to burn out.

You look after everyone else all week. It is fine to be looked after too.

Your rhythm

It doesn't have to be weekly.

Most therapists already have a full diary. So there is no set pattern. Come as often as suits you, and change it whenever you like.

Weekly

A hard patch

For when there is a lot to unpack, or something has landed heavily and you want steady support through it.

Every 2 weeks

Steady support

A regular place to offload alongside a full caseload, without it taking over your week.

Monthly

A regular reset

One hour a month to check in with yourself, the same way you ask clients to.

Ad hoc

When it gets heavy

Book when you need it. No commitment, no explaining why you have been away.

No contracts and no minimum. You set the rhythm, and you can change it.

Why me

I know the work from the inside.

I have 27 years of clinical practice, and I still see clients every week. I am an NCH Registered Supervisor with a Certificate in Clinical Supervision, and I have spent years teaching therapists via Gold Leaf Training.

So you will not need to explain what a hard week in this job looks like. My style is warm, direct and often funnier than people expect, and we move at the pace that suits you.

Therapy or supervision?

Therapy is for you, as a person. Supervision is for your clients and your practice. They are different jobs, and both are worth having.

Supervision is usually monthly and helps cover your professional body requirements. You can read about it on the clinical supervision page. Some therapists use both. If that is you, we keep them as separate sessions with a clear line between them, and we talk through how that works before you start.

Private, and kept private

Therapy is a small world, and it is natural to worry about being known in it. Your sessions are private and handled under the same confidentiality policy as all my client work.

Questions therapists ask

Is this supervision?

No. Therapy is for you as a person. Supervision is for your clients and your practice. Some therapists want one, some the other, some both. Supervision is offered separately.

Do I have to come every week?

No. Weekly, every two weeks, monthly or whenever it gets heavy are all fine. There is no contract and no minimum. You set the rhythm and can change it.

How much does it cost?

A session is £70, online via Zoom, 1:1. One session, one fee, no joining fee.

What do we talk about?

Whatever you bring. Often it is the weight of the work, but it can be your relationships, your own history, stress, or something that has nothing to do with clients at all.

Is it confidential?

Sessions are private and handled under the same policy as all my client work. You can read it on the confidentiality page.

Do you work with therapists from any modality?

Yes. Hypnotherapists, counsellors, psychotherapists, coaches and other helping professionals are all welcome.

Get in touch

Ready to put some of it down?

Get in touch for a confidential conversation. A line or two is plenty. You do not need to explain everything in writing.

You look after everyone else

The people who do this work are often the last to ask for help. I would like to make that a little easier. Come once, come monthly, come when it gets heavy. Whatever works.
