I've travelled a lot over the years and planned some quiet epic trips. To do this I use a lot of different resources, the best ones, the ones I go back to over and over are listed below.
Of all the flight booking sites, and believe me I've tried dozens, I always go back to Skyscanner. It consistently brings back the lowest prices, plus it has an excellent feature where it'll show you the best prices for flights over an entire month. Give it a go.
I was a bit of a late adopter to Uber, mostly because I rarely use taxis, but I have to say it was a super easy experience. I love that there is no money exchanged. It's all done on the app, including knowing how far your car is away, who's coming for you and the cost of the ride. Worth a try.
If you'd like up to £10 to spend on your first ride then install the app on your phone and use this code - DANTEH642UE (I get a tenner too, so we both get a free ride :) - Or click this link
Most booking sites these days will give you pretty much the same results, so they need something more to stand out. Booking.com has two things, one a loyalty scheme where if you book often then they give you discounts and free stuff - late checkouts etc.
But better than that they are great at letting you alter your bookings, for free, if your plans change. And when you're travelling, they often do, in fact in
life in general they often do.
Love Airbnb, it has totally change the options for accommodation when travelling. Certainly, in big cities where you can often find excellent accommodation on there
at half the price of a hotel. Plus, you can get really cool apartments, where you'll have the space to really enjoy your travels. Check out: Why Use Airbnb?
This site has been around forever and has lots of different press over the years. If you see it as a way of just getting free accommodation then it's probably not for you. It's much better if you view it as a way of meeting new people, and getting to know new cultures (while getting free accommodation), that way you really benefit from the community aspects that the site offers.
If you want to learn a new language no matter how many books you read or how much vocab you memorize at some point you're going to have to talk to someone in the language (I know, awful right).
And it's widely agreed, by smarter people than me, that the sooner you do that the better. This is where italki comes in. It's a great way to meet other language learners for a language exchange and also get excellent value lessons with native speakers.
If you're looking for free volunteer opportunities then this is a great place to start. There are so many, super expensive, volunteer schemes around these days that it's good that a site like this exists to connect willing volunteers with grass root groups.
Some people swear by Workaway as a great way to extend your trip. I think it's a great concept, but you have to be careful that you're not giving over, potentially quite valuable, skills for a dodgy roof over your head. Saying that, I'm a cynic and there is a lot of good here so try it out for yourself. Check out: 5 Tips To Get The Most Out Of Workaway
After using Wordpress for years I finally got sick of it's annoying database errors and random white screens of death that after tons of research I found Jimdo. It is so easy to use and pretty much anyone can use it to make their own websites. Better still, they have an amazing Facebook group where you can get very quick and excellent support - a must in today's fast-paced world. Check out: The Best Wordpress Alternative - Jimdo
If you do anything in social media and you want to do it better, Massplanner can help. It's a great program that can do loads of very cool, automated, type things. Check it out and give this a read as you do: How To Get More Twitter Followers
